Bra Barrette

As our team of walkers prepares to walk the 3 Day this weekend in Seattle, I reminded about how good it feels to give back to others.  To do something that is beyond what you can normally do and go a little above, is all it takes to give you that sense of self satisfaction that is a fundamental part of feeling confident about yourself.  I know the link between feeling good about giving  your leftovers to someone who is homeless and feeling confident may be tenuous to some, but I see it as building block to feeling confident.  If you start to do good things for others, it becomes easier to see the good in yourself. 

This weekend me and seven other people in our team BRA BARETTE will walk 60 miles over 3 days and our team alone will have raised almost $15,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust.  I know many of you think, “that’s more than I can do!  I don’t have time for it”  Just remember that giving back is not about how big or small what you do is, it’s about GIVING BACK. period. end of sentence.  Whatever you can do…do  it!!!   For me, this is the most I’ve ever done in service to others and every time I think about what I have dedicated myself to doing I am amazed (and think I am a little crazy for making the comittment, becasue I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!) 

Whether its walking 60 miles or taking the time to take someone elses shopping cart back to the front of the store, that spirit of giving back to others, is all you need to remind yourself that confidence is a state of mind and that you don’t give to someone else becasue  it’s the ”right thing to do”  but because YES, YOU WANT TO DO THIS!
